Kielsteg elements made of wood with inner framework OSB 158.3 kg/m³
Technical purpose of product or process The components are used for a wide range of applications in halls and residential buildings, including carports mainly used for roof but also as ceiling structures. With spans of up to 27 meters as a single-span system, the Technology allows the greatest possible flexibility in the use of the building.

Time representativeness
Data set valid until 2029
Technological representativeness
Technology description including background system Kielsteg components are lightweight and highly load-bearing, uniaxially tensioned surface support systems consisting of an upper and lower pressure and tension zone made of spruce wood and an intermediate framework made of thin-walled OSB (oriented strand board) or PLY (plywood) panels. The material is efficiently and specifically concentrated in the cross-section where it is statically necessary. The load-bearing capacity of the remarkable cellular construction predestines the components for use as load-bearing structures in Buildings with a large span.

1This impact category deals mainly with the eventual impact of low dose ionizing radiation on human health of the nuclear fuel cycle. It does not consider effects due to possible nuclear accidents, occupational exposure nor due to radioactive waste disposal in underground facilities. Potential ionizing radiation from the soil, from radon and from some construction materials is also not measured by this indicator.
2The results of this environmental impact indicator shall be used with care as the uncertainties on these results are high or as there is limited experiences with the indicator.
